Celebration of the 150th anniversary of the composition of Vande Mataram
- The event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Maidan in Delhi
- The song ‘Vande Mataram’, which became a star mantra in the Indian freedom struggle, was composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.
- The song became popular after Rabindranath Tagore sang it at the Calcutta Congress Session in 1896.
- It was adopted as the country’s national anthem by the Constituent Assembly in 1950.
