Kovalam Beach Blue Flag Certification
- Kovalam Beach in Chengalpattu district has been awarded the International Blue Flag certification for the fifth consecutive year for the 2025-2026 period.
- It was the first beach in Tamil Nadu to receive the certification on September 21, 2021.
- The beach met the stringent global standards set by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Denmark.
- The certification is renewed annually after detailed inspections by national and international committees.
- Government initiative:
- Based on Kovalam’s success, the Tamil Nadu government aims to secure Blue Flag certification for 10 beaches across the State.
- Proposed beaches include Palavakkam, Thiruvanmiyur, and Uthandi in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu- Saxony Business Conclave
- The Tamil Nadu-Saxony Business Conclave 2025 was held in Chennai on 11.11.25 on behalf of the South Indian Chamber of Commerce and the State Government of Saxony, Germany.
- The event was organized under the name ‘Tamil Nadu-Saxony Business Conclave’
- The German Minister said that he plans to focus on the semiconductor and microelectronics sectors with the Tamil Nadu government.
- India is the 4th largest economy in the world.
- The conference was held with the aim of strengthening technology transfer and MSME partnerships and creating new business opportunities.
