Free Bicycle Scheme

  • The year of launch of the Free Bicycle Scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government was 2002.
  • The scheme was launched by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
  •  Free bicycles will be provided to all 11th standard students studying in government, government aided and partially government aided schools.
  • The main objective of the Free Bicycle Scheme for Students is to promote female education and help students who find it difficult to go to school.
  • This scheme especially helps students from rural and remote areas to pursue higher education without any difficulty.

Padam Pathukappom Project

  • Tamil Nadu Integrated Diabetic Foot Care Project ” “Padam Pathukappom Project” was launched on 28.10.24
  • This program is run by the Department of Public Health.
  • It covers all aspects of foot care such as diagnosis, awareness about foot problems, foot ulcer prevention, provision of footwear, foot ulcer treatment, diabetic foot surgeries, and provision of artificial feet in case of loss of feet.
  • The essence of the Padam Pathukappom Project is to detect nerve loss and blood vessel blockage caused by diabetes at an early stage and to prevent foot loss through timely interventions.
  • “Foot Clinic” was implemented as a pilot project in Thanjavur district to detect diabetic foot problems, examine and recommend their solutions. 

School View – New App Launched

  • A new app called ‘School View – 2.0’ has been launched with the aim of improving inspection work in schools.
  • Introduction of School View App – 18 February 2023
  • Expanded across the state in March 2023.
  • An app called ‘School View’ was launched to monitor the activities of schools in Tamil Nadu.
  • Departmental officers used to upload notes on this app during school inspections focusing on classroom teaching, student attendance, learning status, etc.
  •  Now it has been improved and the ‘School View-2.0’ app has been launched.

Akananuru Song – Bears

Chief Minister’s Creative Center

  • The Chief Minister inaugurated the Chief Minister’s Creative Center on 4 November 2024 in Kolathur (Chennai).
  • It has been developed for the effective use of IT companies and those preparing for government exams.
  • A fee of Rs. 5 per day is charged for the learning center called Chief Minister’s Creative Center
  • The Finance Minister announced that the Chief Minister’s Creative Center project will be expanded to 30 places across the state in the 2025-26 budget.
  • In that regard, Chief Minister’s Creative Centers are to be built in cities like Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Salem, Tambaram and Avadi at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crore each.

Indian Languages ​​Laboratory inaugurated

  • The Language and Cognition Laboratory was inaugurated by IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti to study Indian languages.
  • The laboratory has been set up by the Department of Social Sciences and Anthropology, IIT Madras.
  • It is the first language laboratory in the country.
  • It ensures systematic research on various languages ​​in the country.
  • Using advanced experimental methods, the laboratory will study how humans understand languages, how they create language resources, and how they use the practices associated with them.
