‘Ungal Kanavai Sollungal’ Survey

  • A month-long household survey to gather public feedback on government schemes and priority issues.
  • Aims to understand people’s aspirations for Tamil Nadu’s development by 2030.
  • A separate website will be created for the dreams of young people, and the opinions of Tamils ​​living abroad will also be collected.
  • Families will share feedback on benefits received under State schemes.
  • Each family will list three priority aspirations.
  • Aspirations will be digitised, assigned a unique code, and families will receive a tracking card.
  • To be launched by Chief Minister January 9, at Ponneri, Tiruvallur district.
  • Implemented through the Mudhalvarin Mugavari Department.

Organ Donation – Tamil Nadu

  • Background: In 2025, organ donation from 266 brain-dead individuals in Tamil Nadu has given a new lease on life to 1,476 people; the brain death organ transplant program created for this purpose is currently being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Organ Transplant Authority.

Brain Death Organ Transplant Program 2008

  • The Tamil Nadu Organ Transplant Authority (TRANSTAN) manages the brain death organ transplant program.
  • Tamil Nadu is the first state to make brain death certification mandatory in 2008.
  • In September 2023, the Government of Tamil Nadu honoured those who donated organs after brain death.
  • This first-of-its-kind government order has had a significant impact on the program.

Tamil Nadu Organ Transplant Authority

  • The Tamil Nadu Transplant Authority (TRANSTAN) was launched on December 12, 2014.
  • TRANSTAN (2014) is the pioneering state authority in Tamil Nadu that manages the organ donation program in a digital, transparent, and equitable manner.

Human Organ Transplantation Act

  • Following the enactment of the Human Organ Transplantation Act in 1994, Tamil Nadu was one of the first states to begin cadaveric organ transplantation in 1995.
  • For the sixth consecutive year, Tamil Nadu remains the best-performing state in organ transplantation activities.
  • World Organ Donation Day is celebrated every year on August 13.
  • The practice of observing September 23rd as Organ Donation Day was initiated in Tamil Nadu.
  • The Tamil Nadu government launched the Transplant Organ Allocation app.
