Senior Citizens’ Home

  • Context: Chief Minister inaugurated a home for senior citizens established by the Arulmigu Devi Baliamman and Ilankaliamman Temple at Kolathur in Chennai.
  • TVS Motor is providing funds for the maintenance of the home which would accommodate those aged above 60 and whose families could not afford their maintenance.
  • In 2021, the government said it would construct homes for senior citizens at three temples at Kolathur in Chennai, Palani, and Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli.

 

Thiranagam

    • Context: Thiranagam set up in 23 districts of Tamil Nadu were inaugurated via video conferencing.
  • Thiranagam were set up in 23 districts to coordinate activities under the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and the Tamil Nadu Women Employment and Security Scheme.
  • These will function as one-stop centres for skill development, career guidance and employment related services.

Naan Mudhalvan Project Centres

    • Context: 11 Naan Mudhalvan Project University Operational Centres of Tamil Nadu were inaugurated via video conferencing.
  • Naan Mudhalvan Project Operational Centres have been set up in 11 government universities including Anna University.
  • These centres will help in developing the skills of students and guiding them according to the industry requirements.

Naan Mudhalvan Project

  • The project was launched on 1 March 2022.
  • It is a project implemented by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.
  • It is a flagship initiative designed to provide training, skill development and career guidance to over 10 lakh students and youth across the state annually.
