The Shakti Sadan Scheme

  • Context: The Shakti Sadan Scheme is designed to provide a secure and supportive environment for women facing difficult circumstances.
  • Introduced in 2022 under Mission Shakti, it was formed by combining the Swadhar Greh and Ujjawala schemes.

Objective

  • Its main aim is to offer safe accommodation along with rehabilitation assistance to women in distress.
  • It is a centrally sponsored, demand-based programme that is implemented by States and Union Territories.
  • The scheme provides essential support such as shelter, food, medical care, legal assistance, counselling, and rehabilitation services.
  • Its implementation is tracked through field inspections, review meetings, and the Mission Shakti Dashboard.

About Mission Shakti

  • Mission Shakti, launched in 2022 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is an umbrella initiative focused on women’s welfare.
  • This programme is also a centrally sponsored scheme, implemented through coordination between the Centre and the States to ensure broader outreach and effectiveness.

It includes two main components

  • Sambal – focuses on women’s safety and protection
  • Samarthya – focuses on empowerment and overall development

PM e-Drive Scheme

  • Context: Under the Prime Minister’s e-Drive Scheme, the Central Government has extended the timeframe for availing incentives for registered electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

About the Prime Minister’s e-Drive Scheme

  • The Prime Minister’s e-Drive Scheme was launched on September 29, 2024.
  • The initial implementation period for this scheme was set for two years, spanning from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026.
  • This scheme is implemented through the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries.
  • Subsequently, the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries announced that it had extended the scheme’s duration until March 31, 2028.
  • The primary objective of the Prime Minister’s e-Drive Scheme is to promote sustainable transportation by increasing the adoption of electric vehicles, expanding charging infrastructure, strengthening the electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem, and reducing carbon emissions.

 

Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

  • Context: Meghalaya has emerged as the twelfth state to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Government regarding reforms under the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 scheme.

Jal Jeevan Mission

  • This scheme was launched on August 15, 2019.
  • It aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to all rural households through ‘Functional Household Tap Connections’ (FHTC) by the year 2024.
  • The Ministry of Jal Shakti is the nodal ministry responsible for implementing this scheme.
  • To ensure 100% drinking water connectivity (saturation) for all 19.36 crore rural households, the duration of this scheme has currently been extended until December 2028.

Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

  • The Jal Jeevan Mission has been extended by the Union Cabinet until December 2028.
  • This new phase, termed Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, aims to shift the focus from infrastructure creation to providing sustainable and citizen-centric services.

Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0: New Administrative and Digital Reforms

Sujalam Bharat Digital Framework

  • This assigns a Unique ID to every village and maps the entire water supply chain.

Jal Arpan Initiative

  • This engages Gram Panchayats and Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) in the task of dedicating water supply schemes. 

Har Ghar Jal Certification

  • This certification is granted only after ensuring the existence of proper Operation and Maintenance systems at the local level.

Jal Utsav

  • This is an annual, community-centric event conducted to inspect water systems and promote sustainability.
    Current Facts
