- On April 15, 2026, Himachal Pradesh celebrates its 79th Foundation Day.
- Himachal Pradesh Day is celebrated annually on April 15th to commemorate the formation of the state of Himachal Pradesh.
- On April 15, 1948, Himachal Pradesh was constituted as a ‘Chief Commissioner’s Province.’
- Following the enactment of the Constitution of India, it became a ‘Part C’ state on January 26, 1950.
- Subsequently, on November 1, 1956, it was converted into a Union Territory. In 1966, it was expanded through the merger of the hilly areas of the state of Punjab.
- Finally, under the Himachal Pradesh Statehood Act of 1970, it attained full statehood status as the 18th state of India on January 25, 1971.
