‘Abhay’ AI Chatbot

  • Central Bureau of Investigation has launched an AI-powered chatbot named “Abhay”.
    • To help citizens verify the authenticity of official notices issued by the CBI.
  • Aimed at protecting people from online frauds, especially rising “digital arrest” scams.
    • Fraudsters often impersonate officials to extort money, creating fear and confusion among victims.
  • The chatbot provides instant verification of notices to identify whether they are genuine or fake.
    • Helps users avoid panic and prevent financial losses due to fraudulent communications.
    • Represents the use of artificial intelligence in strengthening cyber safety and public awareness.
  • The initiative will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Surya Kant.
  • Strengthens efforts to combat cybercrime and misuse of law enforcement identity.

 

Kankaria Depot: India’s First Water-Neutral Railway Facility

  • Context: Kankaria Coaching Depot in Ahmedabad has become India’s first water-neutral railway depot.
    • The initiative focuses on sustainable railway operations through wastewater treatment and reuse.
    • The depot saves around 1.60 lakh litres of water daily, equivalent to over 300 household tanks.
    • Water used in coach washing and maintenance is treated and recycled instead of being discharged.
  • The core technology used is Phytoremediation, which uses plants to naturally purify water.
  • The treatment process includes wetland-based purification, followed by carbon and sand filtration, and UV disinfection.
    • The treated water is safely reused for operational purposes within the depot.
  • Annual water savings are estimated at about 5.84 crore litres.
  • The project reduces dependence on freshwater resources and promotes eco-friendly infrastructure.
  • It serves as a model for water conservation and sustainable practices across Indian Railways.

Current Facts

  • The Tharu tribe is an indigenous community inhabiting the Terai plains along the Indo–Nepal border. They are considered the largest and one of the earliest settled ethnic groups in the Terai region.

The Chenchu community mainly lives in the Nallamalai forest region of Andhra Pradesh. They are recognized as one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in the state

India’s First State-of-the-Art 3D Glass Chip Packaging Plant

    • Context: The foundation stone for India’s first state-of-the-art 3D (three-dimensional) glass chip packaging plant was laid in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha.
  • The Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology and the Chief Minister of Odisha jointly inaugurated this project.
    • The Central Government has approved the development of this project with an investment of approximately ₹1,943 crore.
    • Chip packaging is the final and crucial stage of semiconductor manufacturing, through which finished chips are made ready for use.
  • The chips manufactured at this facility will be utilized in key sectors such as aerospace, defense, Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, and data centers.
