- Context: The United Arab Emirates declared that it is exiting both OPEC and the wider OPEC+ grouping.
About OPEC+
- OPEC+ is a coalition of leading oil-exporting countries.
- It was created in 2016 as an expanded framework of OPEC.
- The group includes 22 oil-producing nations that meet periodically to determine crude oil output levels for the global market.
- Its membership consists of the 12 OPEC countries along with Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mexico, Malaysia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Oman.
- These countries coordinate their production policies to regulate supply and maintain stability in global oil prices.

- Cauvery Water Management Authority
- The Cauvery Water Management Authority and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee were constituted under the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act, 1956, through the Cauvery Water Management Scheme (CWMS) notified on June 1, 2018.
- This scheme was formulated to implement the final order of the Cauvery River Water Tribunal, as modified by the judgment of the Supreme Court of India dated February 16, 2018.
- The Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) has been empowered to ensure adherence to and implementation of the Tribunal’s final order, including the storage, apportionment, regulation, and control of Cauvery waters.
- With the assistance of the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC), it monitors the operation of reservoirs and regulates water releases.
