About PM E-DRIVE Scheme
- The PM E-DRIVE (Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement) programme, introduced in October 2024 and operational from October 1, 2024,
- It is a major government initiative aimed at boosting the adoption of electric mobility in India.

- Its core purpose is to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs), expand charging infrastructure, and strengthen the domestic EV manufacturing ecosystem.
- The scheme focuses on accelerating the shift toward EVs by providing upfront financial incentives for buyers and encouraging the development of widespread charging facilities.
Key Components of the Scheme
- Financial support is offered for the purchase of various electric vehicles, including electric two-wheelers (e-2W), three-wheelers (e-3W), e-ambulances, e-trucks, and other emerging EV segments.
- Funds are allocated for procuring electric buses, setting up a large-scale charging network, and modernizing testing infrastructure under the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
- Covers administrative expenses, Information, Education & Communication (IEC) activities, and fees for the Project Management Agency (PMA).
Eligibility Criteria
- Be registered as motor vehicles under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR).
- Use advanced battery technologies.
