Tamil Nadu Women’s Development Corporation
- Context: On behalf of Tamil Nadu Women’s Development Corporation, various creative activities are being undertaken to market the products produced by women’s self-help groups operating in rural and urban areas in urban areas.
- As a part of this, a natural market is being organized at the Mother Teresa Women’s Complex in Nungambakkam, Chennai on the first and third weekends of every month, Saturdays and Sundays, featuring the products of the self-help groups.
About Tamil Nadu Women’s Development Corporation
- Established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1983.
- Registered as a statutory body and functioning under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats.
Objectives
- Upliftment of the status of women through education, employment, economic empowerment and self-reliance.
- It is fully committed to promoting the Self Help Group (SHG) movement by providing skill development training to SHGs across Tamil Nadu through various poverty alleviation schemes
The Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation is currently implementing the following major schemes:
- Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM).
- Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihoods Mission (TNULM).
- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Rural Skill Development Scheme (DDU-GKY).
- Mahila Yojana (Women Development Scheme).
