- Following a recommendation by the National Testing Agency—amidst allegations that fraudsters misused Telegram’s ‘edit message’ feature to deceive candidates participating in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination—the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology temporarily blocked the Telegram service in India under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Brain-Eating Amoeba
- Brain-eating amoebae are free-living, microscopic single-celled organisms commonly present in warm freshwater environments such as lakes, rivers, and hot springs, as well as in soil.
- Among the various free-living amoebae, three are known to cause serious infections in humans:
- Acanthamoeba – responsible for Granulomatous Amoebic Encephalitis (GAE).
- Naegleria fowleri – causes Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM).
- Balamuthia mandrillaris – associated with rare but severe infections affecting the brain and other organs.
- These amoebae can gain entry into the body through the nasal passages, broken skin, or inhalation, and in certain cases may reach and infect the brain.
- They are referred to as brain-eating amoebae because they damage and destroy brain tissue, resulting in serious and often fatal infections of the central nervous system.
Battle of Haldighati
- 450 years have passed since the Battle of Haldighati, which took place on 18 June 1576 in the Aravalli hills, in present-day Rajsamand district of Rajasthan.
- The battle was fought between the forces of Mewar, led by Maharana Pratap, and the Mughal army of Emperor Akbar. The Mughal side was commanded by Asaf Khan I and Man Singh I of Amber.
