SHe-Box 2.0: Strengthening Workplace Safety for Women

- Context: The Government has undertaken several structural and policy measures to promote women’s safety, dignity, and participation across sectors.
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development implements Mission Shakti, which provides an integrated framework for convergence of schemes and strengthening institutional mechanisms.
SHe-Box Portal
- The Sexual Harassment electronic Box (SHe-Box) portal was created to implement the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (SH Act).
- To enhance its effectiveness, the Government launched SHe-Box 2.0 on 29 August 2024.
Features of SHe-Box 2.0
- Provides a single-window platform for women from: Organised sector , Unorganised sector ,Public sector , Private sector
- Enables women to register and track complaints related to workplace sexual harassment.
- Facilitates seamless coordination among stakeholders and strengthens implementation of the SH Act through a structured and monitorable system.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
- Offers a secure, confidential, and user-friendly interface.
- Allows women to report incidents without fear of stigma or retaliation.
- Available in 22 languages, including Hindi and English, ensuring wider accessibility and inclusiveness.
Objective
- To create a safer work environment and strengthen the redressal mechanism for workplace sexual harassment, thereby promoting women’s empowerment and participation in the workforce.
