Successful Test of DRDO’s Pinaka Long-Range Missile

  • Context: The Pinaka long-range missile, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was successfully tested yesterday at the test range in Chandipur, Odisha. This missile is capable of accurately striking and destroying targets at ranges between 60 km and 120 km.

About Pinaka Long-Range Guided Missile 

  • A long-range, precision-guided missile developed for the Indian Army’s Pinaka MLRS (Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System).
  • Developed jointly by DRDO laboratories-ARDE (lead agency), HEMRL, RCI, and DRDL.
