- Hyundai in Tamil Nadu has signed an agreement to produce 50 thousand electric vehicles by March. For this purpose Rs. 7000 crores has been invested announced by the Tamil Nadu Industries Minister MCC Sampath.

First Economic Conference of World Tamil
- The World Tamil Economic Forumon behalf of the Chennai Development Corporation and the meeting of Tamils living abroad will be held on January 6 and 7.
- This conference is held to bring together Tamils and local Tamilsall over the world to help each other in their business, economically and to increase their investment in Tamil Nadu.

- Sixth World Tamils Economic Conference and Chennai Global Economic Summit will be held in Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai from 28th December to 30th December 2019.
- The first International Tamils Economic Seminar was held in Sydney in 2005 and the Second International Seminar was held in Kuala Lumpur in 2007.
- The First World Tamils Economic Conferencewas held in Taj Coromandel Hotel, Chennai in 2009. The Second World Tamils Economic Conference was held in World Trade Centre, Dubai, U.A.E in 2011.
- The Third World Tamils Economic Conferencewas held in Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai in 2016. The Fourth World Tamils Economic Conference was held in International Convention Centre, Durban, South Africa in 2017.
- The Fifth World Tamils Economic Conferencewas held in Sangamithra Convention Centre, Pondicherry, in 2018.
