Nations secure pact to protect marine life in the high seas

• United Nations (UN) members have agreed on a unified treaty to protect biodiversity in the high seas.

• The treaty will create a new body to manage conservation of ocean life and establish marine protected areas in the high seas.
• “The treaty also establishes ground rules for conducting environmental impact assessments for commercial activities in the oceans.

ISRO to undertake controlled re-entry of satellite tomorrow

• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will be undertaking a challenging experiment of a controlled re-entry of the decommissioned Megha-Tropiques-1 (MT1) satellite.
• The Megha-Tropiques-1 (MT1) is a joint Indo-French satellite launched in 2011 for tropical weather and climate studies, which was providing data services, supporting regional and global climate models till 2021.

Government approves launch of IFFCO’s nano DAP fertilizer

• Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who had announced the government’s nod to the launch of nano liquid DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) fertilizer. Fertilizer cooperative Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), which introduced nano liquid urea in 2021, announced on Friday that the government has approved the launch of its nano DAP fertilizer in the market. It is a big step towards self-reliance in fertilizers,
