Special Session of Parliament from September 18 to 22
- The Union government announced a Special Session of Parliament from September 18 to 22 shortly after the conclusion of the G20 Summit here on September 10.
- The government has not revealed the agenda of the session.
About Sessions of Parliament
- under Article 85 of the Constitution.
- Convened by the President of India (Decided by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs)
- By convention Parliament meets for three sessions in a year.
- Budget Session
- Monsoon Session
- Winter Session
- The gap between two sessions of the Parliament cannot exceed 6 months.
Govt – Welfare oriented Govt schemes, their utility
E-buses will be allotted to cities based on population
- The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation issued the guidelines on the implementation of the PM-eBus Sewa scheme to the States.
- It is notified that the 10,000 electric buses under the scheme would carry a uniform branding provided by the Union government.
- The 169 eligible cities would be categorised into four groups based on their population and e-buses would be allocated based on the population as
- Between 15 and 20 lakh – 150 buses
- Between 10 and 15 lakh – 100 buses
- Between five and 10 lakh – 100 buses
- Less than five lakh. – 50 buses
About PM-eBus Sewa
- The scheme aims to introduce 10,000 Electric Buses through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
- The scheme has two segments
- Segment A: Augmenting City Bus Services (169 cities)
10,000 e-busses will be deployed in PPP Model in 169 cities.
- Segment B: Green Urban Mobility Initiatives (181 cities)
Infrastructure will be upgraded under the green urban mobility initiatives in 181 cities.
