Bhu-Neer portal
▪ The Bhu-Neer portal was launched on September 19, 2024, and aims to enhance groundwater management in India.
▪ It was introduced during the India Water Week 2024 closing event and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil inaugurated the platform.
Purpose of Bhu-Neer
▪ Bhu-Neer is designed to improve the management of groundwater use, which makes the process of obtaining withdrawal permits more transparent.
▪ It promotes efficiency and sustainability in groundwater usage.
Development and Features
▪ The Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) developed the portal. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) assisted in its creation.
▪ Bhu-Neer replaces the older NOCAP system.
▪ It features a single ID system linked to the user’s PAN. This simplifies the application process for permits.
First Artificial Intelligence (AI) data bank
▪ India revealed its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) data bank, which aims to encourage innovation and enhance national security, by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
▪ The data bank will serve researchers, startups, and developers by providing essential datasets for AI solutions.
▪ The AI data bank was launched at the 7th ASSOCHAM AI Leadership Meet 2024
