The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar
▪ The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar will be awarded to young artists, and take place on November 22, 2024, which will be held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
Award Details
▪ The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar was established in 2006. It honours the legendary Ustad Bismillah Khan.
▪ The award is given annually to artists under 40 years old. Eligible fields include music, dance, drama, folk and tribal arts, and puppetry.
▪ Each awardee receives a cash prize of ₹25,000. They also receive a plaque and an angavastram
Khelo India Youth Games
▪ Bihar will host the Khelo India Youth Games in April 2025, which marks the state’s first time as a host for this prestigious event.
▪ The Khelo India Para Games will follow shortly after, with a gap of 10 to 15 days, and this is the first time the Para Games will be held in Bihar.
▪ Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, supports this initiative.
▪ He stated that it aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. The goal is to bring Khelo India Games to every region of the country.
▪ Sports are essential for achieving a developed India by 2047.
Young Leaders Conference for Developed India
▪ Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that a Young Leaders Conference for Developed India
will be held in Delhi on January 11-12 next year, as part of an effort to involve youth without
political background in public life.
▪ About 2,000 youth will participate in person in this conference to be held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
▪ The Prime Minister made this announcement during his “Mann Ki Baat” radio program.
▪ The 162nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda will be celebrated on January 12 next year.
▪ This initiative is called the Young Leaders Conference for Developed India.
▪ National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day was observed on Sunday (November 24).
Central Government Issues Guidelines for Differently-Abled Persons Reservation
▪ The Central Government has issued guidelines for forming committees to properly implement 40% reservation for differently-abled persons and identify government jobs for them.
▪ The guidelines specify that reservation should be followed in jobs identified for differently-abled persons.
▪ Under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, the guidelines state that it is necessary to identify government jobs to properly implement 40% reservation for persons with disabilities.
▪ These identified positions should be reviewed once every three years.
▪ 4% reservation in direct recruitment and promotions must be mandatorily followed for categories including visually impaired, hearing impaired, and intellectually disabled persons.
▪ It was also announced that notifications issued in 2021 and 2022 regarding this would be exempted.
