BIMSTEC Youth Summit
▪ India is hosting the first-ever BIMSTEC Youth Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat
▪ Aim :promote regional cooperation among the youth of the Bay of Bengal region
▪ The Summit’s theme was ‘Youth as a bridge for intra-BIMSTEC exchange
▪ 4th BIMSTEC Summit and is jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Ministry of External Affairs.
About BIMSTEC
▪ The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is a regional organization that was established on 06 June 1997 with the signing of the Bangkok Declaration.
▪ Headquarters: Dhaka, Bangladesh (Permanent Secretariat since 2014)
▪ Initially known as BIST-EC (Bangladesh-India-Sri Lanka-Thailand Economic Cooperation)
