National Science Day 2025
▪ It is observed on February 29 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by the eminent physicist Dr. C.V. Raman in 1928.
▪ This discovery earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, making him the first Indian to receive this prestigious honor in the field of science.
▪ Theme – “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.”
▪ This theme underscores the role of young minds in shaping India’s future in science and technology, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
▪ The first official celebration took place in 1987
Appointments – Who is who?
New ‘SEBI’ Chairperson Appointed
▪ Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Secretary of the Central Finance and Revenue Department, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)
▪ He is a 1987-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer and the most senior official handling the Revenue Department in the Finance Ministry
