INS Sunayna
▪ the Indian Navy launched the Offshore Patrol Vessel INS Sunayna as part of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR initiative. This event took place in Karwar, Karnataka
▪ It coincides with the 10th anniversary of the SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative and the National Maritime Day.
IOS SAGAR Initiative
▪ The IOS SAGAR initiative aims to enhance maritime cooperation among nations in the IOR.
New Naval Base for Nuclear Submarines – INS Varsha
▪ The Navy’s Eastern Regional Headquarters operates in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
▪ A new naval base named INS Varsha is being established in Rambilli. This naval base will function as a special facility for nuclear submarines.
▪ The Indian Navy currently has 16 diesel-powered submarines. Additionally, there are 3 nuclearpowered submarines: INS Arihant, INS Arighat, and INS Aridhaman.
▪ The INS Varsha naval base will be commissioned next year.
▪ INS Kadamba naval base operates in Karwar, Karnataka. Being a natural harbor, this base accommodates large warships.

Prime minister received Mitra Vibhushana
▪ The Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushana is the highest civilian honour awarded by Sri Lanka. It recognises foreign leaders who have encourageed strong ties with the nation. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi received this award during his state visit to Sri Lanka.
▪ The Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushana was established in 2008 by then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
▪ It aims to honour Heads of State and government officials who have shown solidarity with Sri Lanka.
