26th edition of Women and Men in India 2024
▪ The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) of India has released its 26th edition of Women and Men in India 2024 – Selected Indicators and Data.

Gender Disparities in Financial Inclusion
▪ Women own 39.2% of all bank accounts in India. In rural areas, this figure rises to 42.2%. Women contribute to 39.7% of total bank deposits.
Female Entrepreneurship Growth
▪ The number of startups with at least one woman director increased from 1,943 in 2017 to 17,405 in 2024.
Political Participation and Voter Turnout
▪ The total number of electors in India has increased dramatically from 173.2 million in 1952 to 978 million in 2024. Female voter turnout reached 65.8% in 2024.
Education and Gender Parity
▪ The Gender Parity Index (GPI) for primary and higher secondary education remains high, indicating robust female enrolment.
Labour Force Participation Rate
▪ The Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) for individuals aged 15 and above rose from 49.8% in 2017-18 to 60.1% in 2023-24.
