Aadhaar now mandatory for all Goveernment schemes
- The Tamil Nadu government issued a notification making possession of Aadhaar number or undergoing Aadhaar identification mandatory for availing various welfare schemes of the government.
- The ‘Scheme’ is the Integrated Financial and Human Resources Management System, administered by the Treasuries and Accounts Department, to make online payments of bills and payments to beneficiaries through the Electronic Clearing Service.
- Aadhaar will be mandatory now for registering on ‘Scheme’

- Recently, TANGEDCO has made it compulsory for the electricity consumers (only those seeking subsidies) to link Aadhar card with TNEB (Tamil Nadu Electricity Board).
- Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) was formed on July 1, 1957 under section 54 of the Electricity (Supply) Act 1948.
- TNEB was restructured on 1.11.2010 into
- TNEB Limited
- Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO)
- Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO)
