Nobel Prize for Literature
▪ It has been announced for the Hungarian writer Krasznahorkai (71).
▪ The Royal Swedish Academy for Literature, one of the Nobel Selection Committees in
Stockholm, Sweden, has stated that this prize is being awarded to him in recognition of
affirming the power of art even amidst severe terrorist circumstances.
▪ His first novel ‘Satantango’ was released in 1985. This novel and another of his novels ‘The
Melancholy of Resistance’ describe continuous struggles against domination.
▪ Writer László Krasznahorkai also received the Man Booker Prize in 2015.
