National Panchayat Awards (NPA) 2025
- Context: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj announced the winners of the National Panchayat Awards (NPA) 2025.
- A total of 42 Panchayats from different States and Union Territories were selected for the awards.
- Kawrthah North Village Council in Mizoram has secured the top rank at the national level under the “Clean and Green Panchayat” category of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025, for its work in sustainable rural development and environmental conservation.
- The Ministry and the Mizoram government have lauded the recognition, calling it an example of effective grassroots governance and sustainable development.
Categories of Awards
Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP)
- The award recognises outstanding Gram Panchayats for achievements under the nine themes of Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs).
- Awards are given for Rank 1, Rank 2, and Rank 3 under each theme.
- The assessment is linked with Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 scores.

- Healthy Panchayat
- Child-Friendly Panchayat
- Water-Sufficient Panchayat
- Clean and Green Panchayat
- Self-Sufficient Infrastructure Panchayat

- Panchayat with Good Governance
- Women-Friendly Panchayat
Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (NDSPSVP)
- This award is presented to the best-performing Panchayats on an overall basis.
- Under NPA 2025, 8 Panchayats were selected: 3 Best District Panchayats, 2 Best Block Panchayats, 3 Best Gram Panchayats
Financial Incentives
- Award-winning Panchayats receive financial incentives ranging from ₹50 lakh to ₹5 crore depending on category and level.
- The awards are provided under the Incentivization of Panchayats (IoP) scheme.
- IoP is a component of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
Special Category Awards
On National Panchayati Raj Day 2025, Prime presented awards under special categories:

- Atma Nirbhar Panchayat Special Award (ANPSA)

Significance of National Panchayat Awards

- The awards aim to recognise and encourage high-performing Panchayats in rural governance and development.
- They promote inclusive, participatory, and sustainable rural development.
- The initiative strengthens local governance, public service delivery, and community participation.

- Since 2023, the awards framework has been redesigned in alignment with the nine LSDG themes to make evaluation more transparent, holistic, and data-driven.
- The awards reinforce the role of Panchayats in achieving Sustainable Development Goals and the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
