Selection of Panchayati Raj Initiatives

  • Four Panchayati Raj-related initiatives have been selected for the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026
  • The selection highlights the growing role of Gram Panchayats in promoting digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery. 

Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI)

  • The Panchayat Advancement Index has received the Gold Award under the category “Digital Transformation by Use of Data Analytics in Digital Platforms.” 
  • The index assesses the performance of Gram Panchayats across the country based on indicators linked to the Localized Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs). 

Awards for Gram Panchayats

  • Kadepur Gram Panchayat, located in Sangli district of Maharashtra, has won the Gold Award under the category “Grassroots-Level Initiatives by Gram Panchayats for Deepening and Widening of Service Delivery.” 
  • Bijoy Nagar Gram Panchayat, situated in West Tripura district of Tripura, has secured the Silver Award in the same category. 

District-Level Initiative

  • The Health Department of Zilla Parishad Nandurbar, Maharashtra, has received the Gold Award under the District-Level Initiatives in e-Governance category. 
  • The award has been conferred for the e-Aarogya Dhamni initiative, which utilizes digital tools to improve healthcare services in tribal and remote areas. 

Significance of the Awards

  • The awards recognize the innovative application of digital technologies and the effective delivery of public services at the grassroots level. 

29th National Conference on e-Governance

  • The awards will be presented during the 29th National Conference on e-Governance
  • The conference will be held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on the 1st and 2nd of next month
  • The theme of the conference is “Viksit Bharat 2047: AI-Enabled, Data-Driven and Secure Digital Governance.” 

Incentive Amount

  • Gold Awardees will receive an incentive of ₹10 lakh
  • Silver Awardees will receive an incentive of ₹5 lakh
  • The financial assistance is intended to support the implementation of projects and programmes and to bridge resource gaps in public welfare initiatives.
