- Defence Minister of India, Mr Rajnath Singh commissioned Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Varahaat the Chennai Port Trust, Tamil Nadu in the presence of ICG Director General (DG) Krishnaswamy Natarajan and others. It is the fourth in the series of seven 98-m Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). Mr Singh had also participated in the Investiture Ceremony of Coast Guard in Chennai.
- ICGS Varaha, designed and built indigenously by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) at its Kattupalli ship building yard in North Chennai, will be based at New Mangalore Port, Karnataka under the administrative and operational control of Commander Coast Guard region
