World Malaria Report 2023
- According to the World Malaria Report 2023 published by the World Health Organization (WHO) India accounted for 66% of malaria cases in the WHO Southeast Asia Region in 2022.
- Almost 46% of all cases in India were caused by Plasmodium vivax, a protozoan parasite.
- The report stated that the cases declined by 76% to 5 million in 2023 from 249 million cases in 2022.
