Summer solstice

  • On 21st June the event of summer solstice takes place. 
  • The summer solstice is the time when the Sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer leading to the longest daylight.
  • It marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and officially the beginning of the summer season. 
  • Earth’s axial tilt is highest on this day.
  • The sun reaches its highest point in the sky and daylight lasts the longest.
