- A day after the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal developed into Cyclone ‘Hamoon’, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said it has intensified into a ‘severe cyclonic storm’.
- Cyclone Hamoon was named by Iran.
- The word ‘Hamoon’ is a Persian word that refers to inland desert lakes or marshlands
