- The Tamil Nadu government has been acquiring land for setting up State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) industrial parks, Industries Minister M.C. Sampath informed the Assembly
- Three Sipcot industrial parks are in the works, including one at Gangaikondan in Tirunelveli district, which will co me up on a 1,700 acre area; one in Virudhunagar district, which will be spread over 1,500 acres; and a 300 acre premises in Theni district.
