Greenhouse Gas Inventory compendium for Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Tirunelveli
- TN government has launched greenhouse gas inventory compendium for Coimbatore, Trichy and Tirunelveli.
- The aim is to prepare a contextual and inclusive climate resilient action plan for these cities.
- The manufacturing and construction sectors accounted for the highest quantum of greenhouse gas emissions in Coimbatore (35%).
- In Trichy, the residential sector topped the list (35.6%), followed by waste (31.7%). Transport accounted for 15% in both Trichy and Coimbatore.
- The residential buildings were the largest contributor in Tirunelveli, at 51%, followed by road transport, at 22%.

UG in Siddha Medicine
- Undergraduate course in Siddha Medicine will be inaugurated at National Institute of Siddha (NIS) located in Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai.
Note
- NIS was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh in 2005.
- The Siddha Central Research Institute is located on the premises of NIS which is functioning under the name of Ayothidoss Pandithar Hospital.
ISO Certification for 4, 517 Fair Price Shops in TN
- 4,517 fair price shops in Tamil Nadu have been given ISO certification so far.
- There are 35,000 fair price shops in Tamil Nadu in total. Of these, 25,000 shops are operating as full-time shops and less than 10,000 shops are operating as part-time shops.
- The ISO certification in public distribution system means that the shops have established mechanisms to prevent adulteration or safety hazards to food items they handle and supply.
- Fair price shops across Tamil Nadu will be revamped with improved facilities.

- Tamil Nadu follows the Universal Public Distribution System where classifications such as BPL, APL, do not exist.
- TN is providing rice at free of cost under Public Distribution System to all eligible card holders from 01.06.2011.
- Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation procures the essential commodities from Food Corporation of India and stores them in godowns across the state.
