World Day Against Child Labour
▪ The day is observed on June 12 to promote efforts to eliminate child labour.
▪ Theme 2024 : Let’s act on our commitments: End Child Labour!
▪ The day was adopted by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 1999.
Note
National Policy on Child Labour was formulated in 1987.
Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Amendment Act 2016 prohibits the employment of Children below 14 years in all employment and prohibits the employment of adolescents (14 -18 Years) in the hazardous occupations.
