▪ In 2007, the UN declared the decade of 2010 to 2020 the United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight Against Desertification.

Pro Term Speaker
▪ Bhartruhari Mahtab was apponted as the pro term Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha by the President Droupadi Murmu.
▪ The pro-tem Speaker’s primary duty is administering oaths to new MPs.

▪ The appointment was made under Article 95(1) of the Constitution to perform the duties of Speaker till election of the Speaker.
▪ Pro Term Speaker is not mentioned in the Constitution of India.
