- President of India, inaugurated a National Conference on the theme ‘Nari Shakti Se Viksit Bharat’ in New Delhi , celebrating the completion of 50 years of International Women’s Day
- This conference is being organised by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Awards & Honours
Service Awards for Women’s Advancement
- The Avvaiyar Award for 2025 was presented to Dr. Yasodha Shanmugasundaram, former Vice-Chancellor of Mother Teresa Women’s University. She was awarded a prize of Rs.1.50 lakh.
- The State Award for the Advancement of Girl Children was presented to K. Sowmiya from Kattumannarkoil, Cuddalore district. She was awarded a check for Rs.1 lakh.
- State Girl Child Protection Day Awards and medals were presented to Alagu Meena, Kanniyakumari District Collector, and Kalaichelvi Mohan, Kanchipuram District Collector.
