About P C Mahalanobis
- He is known as the ‘Father of Indian Statistics’.
- Second (1956-1961) Planning Commission was also known as Mahalanobis plan.
- The Indian Statistical Institute founded by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis on 17th December, 1931.
- The institute gained the status of an Institution of National Importance by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959.
- The Headquarters of ISI – Kolkata.

- Maharashtra government announced to rename the upcoming Versova-Bandra Sea Link in the financial capital Mumbai after Hindutva leader V D Savarkar and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
