- The Union government has decided torename the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), a think tank, the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses.
- Parrikar was the Defence Minister from November 9, 2014, to March 14, 2017 and initiated several reforms in the Ministry.
- The IDSA, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Defence, was established in New Delhi in 1965.
- It is dedicated to objective research and policyrelevant studies on all aspects of defence and security.
