- Background: A NITI Aayog meeting was held in Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. Discussions were held on ways to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
Indian Economy – Key Data
- India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has crossed $4.18 trillion. With this, India has overtaken Japan to become the world’s 4th largest economy.
- Unemployment was 5.1 percent in April. As of November, this percentage has decreased to 4.7 percent.
- India’s exports stood at $36.43 billion in January. In November, Indian exports rose to $38.13 billion.
- The Reserve Bank of India has projected India’s economic growth to be 7.3% in the 2025-26 financial year.
- The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Development Bank, and various other international financial institutions have projected India’s economic growth to be between 6.5 percent and 7.4 percent.
