- Context: The Indian economy has registered a growth of 7.8 percent in the third quarter (October-December) of the current financial year 2025-26.

Method of calculation
- The economy has registered a growth of 7.8 percent in the third quarter of the current financial year.
- The economic growth in the same period last year was 6.2 percent.
- This growth was 8.2 percent in the previous second quarter.
- The central government has now changed the base year in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) calculation method from 2011-12 to 2022-23.
- According to the new calculation method, India’s overall growth in the current financial year is estimated to be 7.6 percent. This is higher than the previously projected 7.4 percent.
