Indus Water Treaty (IWT)- 1960
▪ The Indus Water Treaty (IWT), signed in 1960, is an important water-sharing agreement between India and Pakistan, mediated by the World Bank.
▪ It divides the waters of the Indus River system, allocating the eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas and Sutlej) to India and the western rivers (Indus, Jhelum and Chenab) primarily to Pakistan, allowing India to limit non-consumptive uses in the western rivers.
