Grama Sabha
▪ Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will address grama sabha meetings on October 11 through the
Bharat Net–Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation Ltd (Tanfinet) network, covering about
10,000 villages across Tamil Nadu.
Grama Sabha
▪ Gram Sabha is a body consisting of all persons whose names are included in the electoral rolls for the Panchayat at the village level. The term is defined in the Constitution of India under Article 243(b).
▪ The Constitution mentions that Gram Sabha exercises such powers and performs such functions at the village level as the Legislature of a State may, by law, provide.
▪ All eligible voters of the village can participate in the Gram Sabha.
▪ The decisions taken by the Gram Sabha cannot be annulled by any other body except itself.
SC Judgment on District Judges Eligibility
▪ Judicial officers with seven years of experience in the Bar before joining judicial service can
now be appointed as District or Additional District Judges.
▪ Previously, only practising lawyers with seven years’ experience were eligible for direct
recruitment.
▪ Chief Justice Gavai reasoned that a lawyer does not cease to be a lawyer upon joining judicial
service.
▪ Constitutional Basis: No eligibility restrictions under Article 233(2) for judicial officers already
in service.
▪ Minimum age for appointment as District or Additional District Judge: 35 years as on the date
of application – Constitution Bench.
Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO)
▪ The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has asked the State governments to submit a list of all cough syrup manufacturers in India.

Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO)
▪ It functions as India’s national regulatory body overseeing cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
▪ The CDSCO is organized with the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) overseeing
pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
▪ It is assigned duties under Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
▪ The DCGI is situated within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and receives guidance from the Drug Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) and the Drug Consultative Committee (DCC).
Functions of CDSCO
▪ Approval of new drugs and clinical trials
▪ Import Registration and Licensing
▪ License approving of Blood Banks, LVPs, Vaccines, DNA products & some Medical Devices
(CLAA Scheme)
▪ Amendment to Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules
▪ Banning of drugs and cosmetics
▪ Grant of Test License, Personal License, NOCs for Export
▪ Testing of New Drugs
▪ Overnight and market Surveillance through Inspectorate of Centre Over and above the State
