Pakistan Takes Leadership of UN Security Council
▪ Pakistan has announced that it has assumed the presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of July.
▪ Pakistan has been appointed as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, which
serves as an important body for discussing global security affairs, for a 2-year term starting
from January 1st.
▪ Additionally, Pakistan has also taken on the leadership responsibility of the Taliban Sanctions
Committee and the deputy leadership role of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee.
