India-UK Trade Agreement
▪ The India-UK trade agreement was signed on July 24 in the presence of Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer.
▪ Both countries have extensive cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, technology, innovation, defense, education, research, sustainable use of resources, health, and people-to-people connections.
▪ In the 2023-24 financial year, bilateral trade between India and the UK was $21.34 billion.
▪ Through this agreement, 99% of goods exported from India to Britain will receive complete tax exemption.
Pakistan Resolution in UN Security Council
▪ A resolution proposed by Pakistan regarding strengthening mechanisms for peaceful resolution of conflicts was unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council.
▪ The Security Council consists of 15 members, and the chairmanship rotates monthly among member countries in alphabetical order. Pakistan currently holds the July presidency.
