Bhu-Neer portal
The Bhu-Neer portal was launched on September 19, 2024, and aims to enhance groundwater management in India.
It was introduced during the India Water Week 2024 closing event and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil inaugurated the platform.
Purpose of Bhu-Neer
Bhu-Neer is designed to improve the management of groundwater use, which makes the process of obtaining withdrawal permits more transparent.
It promotes efficiency and sustainability in groundwater usage.
Development and Features
The Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) developed the portal. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) assisted in its creation.
Bhu-Neer replaces the older NOCAP system.
It features a single ID system linked to the user’s PAN. This simplifies the application process for permits.
First Artificial Intelligence (AI) data bank
India revealed its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) data bank, which aims to encourage innovation and enhance national security, by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The data bank will serve researchers, startups, and developers by providing essential datasets for AI solutions.
