World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan
▪ The National Level Coordination Committee (NLCC) held its first meeting for the implementation of the World’s largest grain storage plan in New Delhi.
▪ This plan envisages to transform Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) into Multi-Service Societies through convergence of various existing schemes of the Government of India (GoI),
such as,
✓ Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF)
✓ Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure Scheme (AMI)
✓ Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM)
✓ Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME)
About Grain Storage Plan
▪ Introduced as a pilot project in 11 states in 2023.
▪ Implementation – National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC)
▪ Objective – To address the shortage of food grain storage capacity in India.
