NATIONAL – DIARY OF EVENTS

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred the honorary title of “General of the Indian Army” to Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Thapa.
▪ Since the 1950s, both India and Nepal have maintained the tradition of conferring the rank of General to each other’s Army Chiefs.
▪ It’s worth noting that last month, Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Poudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army to Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi during a special ceremony in Nepal.

Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav
▪ Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav is a festival that celebrates the linguistic diversity of India.
▪ The event emphasizes the importance of native languages in education and cultural preservation.
▪ the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, support the promotion of Indian languages.
▪ The Union Cabinet has conferred the status of Classical Languages on several Indian languages, including Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese, and Bengali.
▪ The event also reflects on historical policies, such as Macaulay’s Minute on Indian Education, which prioritized English over native languages.
▪ Efforts are being made to integrate technology with education EXAMPLE : Bhasha Sangam programme and the Anuvadini app.
