India’s Largest Labyrinth

  • In the Boramani grasslands of the Solapur district in Maharashtra, archaeologists recently discovered a remarkable circular labyrinth. It has been identified as the largest ever found in India.
  • A large square-shaped labyrinth was discovered in Kidimedu (Tiruppur) in Tamil Nadu.

Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHEP)

  • India’s largest hydropower project, the 2,000-megawatt Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, has commenced operations after nearly 20 years, with its first 250-megawatt unit becoming operational.

About the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project:

  • The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project is a run-of-river hydroelectric project with an installed capacity of 2,000 megawatts. When fully operational, it will be India’s largest hydroelectric project.
  • Location: Gerukamukh, on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
  • Implementing Agency: NHPC Limited (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation)
  • River Course: Built on the Subansiri River, the largest tributary of the Brahmaputra River.

India’s first PPP-model medical colleges

  • The Union Health Minister has announced that the first public-private partnership (PPP) model medical colleges will be established in the tribal districts of Dhar and Betul in Madhya Pradesh state.
