National Highways from Agricultural Waste
- Background: CSIR-CRRI and CSIR-IIP have successfully undertaken an indigenous technology transfer titled “Bio-bitumen through Pyrolysis: Roads from Agricultural Waste,” creating a significant advancement in India’s green road construction.
- This initiative has laid the foundation for India to become a leading nation in the generation of ‘cleaner, greener highways’.
- In the construction of national highways, renewable materials will be replaced with materials produced from agricultural waste through pyrolysis.
- The Central Road Research Institute and the Indian Institute of Petroleum are jointly contributing to the construction of these green roads.
- India is the first country in the world to commercially produce bitumen from agricultural waste.
Drone Data Repository
- Context: Country’s first state level Drone Data Repository has been launched in Madhya Pradesh. It will make administrative process more streamlined, robust and transparent.
- DDR is a centralized cloud based secure and interoperable digital infrastructure that lays the groundwork for the future of geospatial governance.
- It stores high quality drone data including the high resolution orthomosaics, 3D terrain models, LIDAR Scans, video imagery, legacy baseline data and multi departmental survey records.
