Semicon India 2023
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated SemiconIndia 2023 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- With the theme “Catalysing India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem” the conference aims to exhibit India’s semiconductor strategy and policy, with a vision to position the country as a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing and technology development.
- The Gujarat government also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) valued at Rs 22,500 crore with semiconductor chip giant Micron Technology.
- The MoU aims to set up an advanced Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) facility in the state.
- Under this MoU, the US-based firm will receive 50 percent fiscal support for the entire project cost from the Central Government, with the state government offering additional incentives amounting to 20 percent of the total expenditure.
